He has 26 years of experience (Xelpower and Xeline) in Korean ICT & Power industry, as not only an outstanding specialist in technology development but also a renowned businessman in this field.
He incorporated Xelpower in 1992, and Xeline Korea in 1999, which was one of three chipset companies in high speed PLC (Power Line Communication) in the world. He developed a commercial version of high speed PLC chipset up to 24Mbps in 2007, which was adopted as the first international standard, ISO/IEC 12139-1, on high speed PLC area in 2009. He designed AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) & AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) business model for power company based on this 24Mbps PLC chipset technology. It was adopted by KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corp.) in 2008. From 2010, KEPCO’s AMR & AMI market based on Xeline’s PLC technology was extended to USD 1.5bil. for next ten years. He also developed the digital protection relay for 154KV transmission lines in 1999 and started first shipping to KEPCO in 2000. Xelpower was the leading supplier to KEPCO in this market. He successfully defeated the world class heavy electric equipment vendors such as GE, Siemens, ABB, Toshiba and Mitsubishi in this market. Also he developed one of world’s most advanced ADR (Automated Demand Response) solution of Smart Grid in 2001 and installed to KEPCO(Korea Electric Power Corporation) from 2001 to 2009, which controls the national peak loads up to 1,357 MW as of 2010 in real time base. It shall be very unique track record in DR area in the world.
He holds a Ph.D. degree in Automatic Control & Digital Signal Processing from Seoul National University in 1990. He has worked in Samsung Electronics as a senior manager of ICT R&D Center from 1985 to 1992, and as a technology advisor of computer division of Samsung Electronics from 1992 to 1995. He was awarded many prizes from Korean Government, Korean Prime Minister and Korean President as the best young scientist and an excellent venture entrepreneur for last years. He has been a professor of technology graduate school in Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Engineering. And he was the first chairman of ‘High Technology Venture Association’ under Korea Technology Finance Corporation.

He has 31 years of experience in Shipbuilding industry. He has worked as a project engineer of Special Vessel Department and offshore division in H.H.I(Hyundai Heavy Industry) from 1981 to 1985. And he has served in Hyundai Engineering & Construction from 1985 to 2002 as project manager, chief engineer, head of oversea technical department, and head of project development team. He developed many projects, ONGC Fixed Platform, ARAMCO CCCP (Topside Processing Unit), Dredger Conversion(Goryeo-6), Power Barge (Bangladesh Jamuna), and Six-islands Project (Petro-Chemical Complex). He served in Halong Shipyard (Vietnam) as General Director from 2003 to 2007. He served in P&P Korea as CTO from 2008 to 2012, operating in Benkien Shipyard (Vietnam). He developed 16.8K Cement Carrier (KGJS, Norway), 22.5K Bulk Carrier (Thomson, Thailand), and 6.8K Acetylene Carrier (MOL, Japan).
He holds a Ph.D. degree in Science & Engineering from National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1994 and Master’s degree in Naval Architect from Seoul National University in 1984.

He has 37 years of experience in KEPCO(Korea Electric Power Corporation). He has worked in KEPCO since 1979, and retired in 2016. He has served as Vice President in KEPCO in 2010, a director of Kyunggi Regional Center from 2006 to 2009, a head of Technical Planning Department in 2005, a senior professor of KEPCO Academy from 1998 to 2004, a general manager of DSM(Demand Side Management) Department from 1989 to 1996, and a senior researcher of KEPCO Reaserch Center from 1984 to 1989. During his KEPCO period, he worked as a top expert of Distribution Planning & Operation and Technical Planning area, especially DSM area, for a long time.
He holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from Yonsei University in 1988. He also served as an adjunct professor at Seoul National University of Technolgy, Ulsan University, Kunkuk University, and Chungnam University from 1989 to 2002. He had a Certificate of Qualification in Renewable Energy(Solar) in 2018.
